About This Special Issue
Previous research has shown that LGBTQ+ individuals often face many mental health challenges compared to sexual and gender majority groups. There is also research that supports that LGBTQ+ individuals are at higher risk for substance use. There are several risk factors that placate to this phenomenon such as stigma, discrimination, minority stress theory, homophobia, transphobia, and lack of family or social support. This special issue focuses on the concerns of LGBTQ+ populations in terms of different psychological aspects that in return will gain insight to how to improve the mental health of LGBTQ+ individuals. This journal invites submissions or articles covering all areas of psychological research with a scope of LGBTQ+ health. Through this special issue, we aim to raise awareness on mental health among LGBTQ+ communities and to advocate for further research to support LGBTQ+ individuals. Empirical, theoretical or conceptual, review articles, and commentaries are welcomed. We welcome researchers from various disciplines to provide interdisciplinary perspectives on psychology and LGBTQ+ populations. Your contributions will play a crucial role in advancing knowledge in this field.
